In her Defence, in my Defence, in your Defence

In her defence, it wasn’t her fault.  My mother didn’t make mental illness happen to herself, no one does.  As my mother has said everyone has something (negative) happen in their life, be it a failed relationship, marriage, pregnancy or illness.  She says, (if persons are insensitive) I guess they haven’t lived long enough to have something happen to them so that they can empathize or understand.

In my defence, I have had negative things happen that people know about pertaining to my health.  I build mechanisms to compensate for my short comings.

In your defence, don’t let anyone make you feel less because you may have a mental health situation.  If you take your medication you are not crazy, you just manage mental health issues.

But don’t stop there, be proactive!  Read up on your diagnosis and medication.  Learn of the condition you deal with and learn of the side effects of your medication.  Talk to your doctors about your current situation, realize that they are there to help.  In my experience doctors have been happy to help aid me in becoming knowledgeable about my condition.

Turn what people feel is a weakness into your strength!
