Your Medication is Your Tool

Taking your medication generally isn’t fun.  Most people don’t like it.  There are all these side effects, such as drowsiness and stiff muscles.  But what if I told you that you could use your medication like a tool.  Just like a carpenter uses a hammer or a surgeon uses a scalpel.
Just like a carpenter uses a hammer . . .
What if I told you your medication can be used to buffer the effects of stress in your life.  What if I told you it can also be used to aid in your sleep and help to give you a good night’s rest.  What if I told you the drowsiness could aid in making you feel more relaxed, when you’re anxious.  And I could tell you that you should develop a good relationship with your doctors and tell them when you’re more stressed in your life and when you need more medication to help make you feel more comfortable.

If I told you about a tool like this would you want to use it?  If I told you those things would you be more interested in taking this most helpful tool, your medication?
Or a surgeon uses a scalpel

When this information was presented to me in a manner similar to this I was put on a path to begin to think differently about taking medication and to even enjoy taking my medication.  Now I’ve gotten to the point that taking my medication is the highlight of my day.  And also after following ideas presented in this blog for years before this blog was ever birthed, I have been able to monitor myself and communicate with my doctors to help contribute to my process of lifelong recovery.

So I hope you will learn, like I have, to use this most valuable tool called medication to manage your life successfully like I have.
Would you want a life tool like that?
Take your medication!
