Keeping the Balance
There is a time and place for
everything. There is an appropriate way
to do everything. There are rules for
any and every way to do almost anything.
But sometimes rules are made to be broken. Finding the balance in life may be
difficult. In particular, finding the balance between fitting in to the norms in society versus the different,
the indifferent and the taboo. Do you do what
the majority wants you to do, or do you venture outside the box and do what
benefits you.

Everyone but me wants the convenience of a car.
I'm in walking distance to all my
necessities,
I don't need the expense.
I will probably never
hear the end of choosing to walk,
but it works for me.

Many times it is difficult because keeping
up with the Joneses can be costly, and may not be what benefits you
personally. It just appeases the
outward appearance and satisfies others.
There is a fine line between normal and taboo and it is ever changing,
with ebbs and flows, as life and lifestyles change.

While it is important to follow some norms. It is also just as important to do what is best for you, which may not necessarily be the status quo. You have to find the balance that works for you. Sometimes you may be accepted with your decisions and sometimes you may not. Do what ultimately benefits you, but causes no harm to others and the bonus would be for it to also not only not harm anyone else, but to add positivity to someone else's life. Therefore, keep the balance. Do what's good for you, do no harm and strive for your actions to possibly be beneficial to someone else.
