Be Fearless, Be Brave and Take Your Medication!

In a culture that considers it a weakness or a downfall . . . I take my medication!

Medication, suppliments and vitamins
they all help.
I have learned that some persons look down on taking medication.  Especially if it’s for a mental illness.  It’s ok to take medication if you’re Diabetic or have High Blood Pressure or other ailments, but once its mental health your considered weak and stigmatized.  Well, I don’t care about their stigma and what they think of me.  I will take my medication because I know that it is what is good for me.

I’ve experienced it myself.  I was at work when a co-worker brought it up.  We were having a casual conversation when she said to me that she heard that I was crazy, but that I take medication too!
Here in the Caribbean, the problem was that I was taking medication for 'craziness'.
Well I didn’t dispute that I manage mental health issues, because I do, and its common knowledge here on this small island where I live.  And interestingly enough she didn’t really have a problem with that.  The issue was with me taking medication for it.  Since then I’ve realized that it’s the culture here in the Caribbean.  For it to be ok to be crazy as long as you’re not taking medication for it.  If your taking medication for it that is when your considered crazy, otherwise your just wild.
Well, NEWS FLASH for everyone reading -be fearless, be brave and take your medication!  Don’t care what people think!  Do what’s best for you and your health.  People that encourage you to suffer your mental health problems without taking your medication are the same people who will laugh at you when you are doing without and have no one to help you.  Don’t listen to them!  Take your medication.  Live progressively and take care of yourself.
