Life is too
short to be miserable, I choose to love life. I repeat, I daily choose to
love life. I choose to love life! I choose to find the positive side of
everything. I look forward to what some would call trivial activities of
life, because I recognize that not everyone has the freedom to do these things.
I love
realizing that I’m awake in the morning, it is probably one of the best parts
of my day. Not everyone woke up this morning. Some people
didn’t wake up in their right mind. Some people are waking up in
institutions, where they don’t have the independence I do, so I recognize
that. I feel proud to take the medication that affords me that freedom.
As opposed to a car...

I love
being in charge of myself, I love acting responsibly and doing what I know is
best for me. I believe there is an ownership quality that
goes along with knowing I’m responsible for something, even if it’s just me.
I love doing all the things I need and have to do to take care of
myself. I love to do things to make my life easier, even if it’s
considered taboo. I love going to work and doing my job, even when it is
stressful because it enables my financial liberty. I love being my own
supervisor and being the one to make sure I follow all my superior’s
instructions. I love going to get my medication myself, because it
reminds me of where I came from and keeps me focussed on where I want to
go. I choose to love to follow these obligations and be accountable to
myself because it permits my freedom.
I love going
through my routine of getting ready for work, many people only wish that they
had a job to pay their bills and take care of their responsibilities. I
love doing these minor tasks, because it is the vehicle to reach my larger
goals. I pick out my clothes, pack my uniform, bathe, get dressed,
prepare to leave the house, check the stove is off, check the doors are locked
and then I am off to work. Work may be stressful, at times, but it
facilitates my independence, so I choose to love it. I choose to always
speak favorably about my work. After all, I support my employment,
because it supports me. Literally, figuratively and financially.
It isn’t always
easy to find the positive in life, even in the boring daily activities;
sometimes you have to search for it. At times like that I choose to be
silent, if I have nothing positive to say, I say nothing at all. After
conducting yourself in this manner for a time you will see that life is much
more enjoyable. It will take discipline not to complain, but after you
have not complained for a good while and then you start to complain again you
will find that you are more unsatisfied after complaining. When you
complain you will notice that you need to keep complaining and inflating one’s
own ego to feel good. But as you choose the half full glass mentality you
will enjoy daily tasks and find more satisfaction in life.
